What is the Federation of Master Builders?

The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) is a not-for-profit organisation run by members. Initially founded in London in 1941, by a small group of builders, to coordinate efforts to rebuild London after the Blitz in 1940. Over time the reach expanded beyond London to throughout the UK, but the ethos remains the same; to recognise small and medium sized building companies dedicated to providing the highest level of craftsmanship in construction.

As well as recognising quality construction, the FMB also supports and lobbies for small to medium building companies, providing a wide range of business support services to ensure they can promote, protect, and grow their business.

How do you join the Federation of Master Builders?

Not every building firm will meet the high standards of the FMB or make it through their strict vetting process to become a member. Our work underwent independent inspection to ensure we meet the standards required to carry the badge of a Master Builder company.

The joining process can take up to four weeks as the FMB will check things like trading history, insurance, and credit history, as well as looking at a recently completed project. After these initial checks have been passed, the independent inspection of work will take place. Once a member of FMB, the company is re-inspected every three years to ensure they are continuing to work to the highest standards.

What does this mean for Pearce Fine Homes?

As a family business we have always held ourselves to the highest standards of construction and we are so proud to now have this recognised by the FMB. Meeting this industry recognised standard means our peers and customers know that we are committed to providing a level of excellence and that we are a company they can trust.

This also means that we are part of a community that supports and promotes standards in the building industry, which is something we have always been passionate about.

TrustMark Government Endorsed Quality Scheme

As well as now being a proud member of the FMB, we are also a TrustMark registered business. TrustMark is a Government Endorsed Quality Scheme who ensure all businesses registered with them adhere to the required standards based on their three cornerstones of quality: good customer service, technical competence, and good trading practises.

“We are thrilled to become members of the Federation of Master Builders.” says Laura Stone, our Director of Legal and Business Affairs, “Our family business has worked hard over the years to produce quality homes with the help and support of our skilled and dedicated team. This accreditation reflects our commitment to continue to achieve this.”
